Vans and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles are two institutions that encourage the expression of creativity, and are committed to making creative expression accessible to everyone. This season, Vans and MOCA are proud to collaborate on a collection of footwear and apparel that celebrates creativity with California roots.
Born and raised in Southern California, Frances Stark's fascination with skateboarding, punk, rap, and L.A. subculture is reflected in her poetic works that explore a wide array of subjects. The Vans x MOCA Old Skool features an allover print of Stark’s artwork, A Hundred Years From Now You Too Could Have Nothing!, 2013. Stark's work highights issues of race, class, and gender with genuine sincerity and joy. For more than two decades, Stark has explored the meaning of language and its translation into the creative process, highlighting experiences of artists and non-artists alike.
The Vans x MOCA Old Skool is made with sturdy textile uppers. This classic sidestripe shoe also includes re-enforced toe caps, supportive padded collars, and signature rubber waffle outsoles.
